Written by Bay Area playwright Joyce Hsu, Neckties vs. High Heels is adapted from her earlier script Who Is the Winner? — first staged in Silicon Valley in 2008 to widespread acclaim. Eighteen years later, a new production team drawn from the Communication University of China (中国传媒大学), the Beijing Film Academy (北京电影学院), and the Central Academy of Drama (中央戏剧学院) — alongside Bay Area tech professionals and local creatives — brings the story of the Zhao, Qian, Sun, and Li families back to the stage, sharper and funnier than ever.

How long is the show?
Neckties vs. High Heels runs about 2 hours. The Aug 15 evening show runs 7:30–9:30 PM; the Aug 16 matinee runs 3:00–5:00 PM.
Is it good for a date night or a night out with friends?
Yes — it's one of our most popular shows for couples and friend groups. The comedy's take on modern relationships tends to spark conversation on the way home.
Where is Great Star Theater and is there parking nearby?
Great Star Theater is at 636 Jackson St in San Francisco's Chinatown. There's metered street parking and paid garages nearby; if you're coming from the South Bay or Peninsula, we'd suggest allowing extra time for the drive and parking search.
Where should I park?
Street parking in Chinatown is limited, so we recommend a garage. Two options within a 5-minute walk of Great Star Theater:

Is this a new show or has it been performed before
The story was first staged in Silicon Valley in 2008 to strong acclaim. This 2026 production is a new staging with a new cast and creative team, following six sold-out South Bay performances earlier this year.
